Volcanoes of Chile: Landscape with a lot to be said
Chile is a country of volcanoes. We are escorted by almost 3,000 of them in our Andes mountain range, 150 of which are considered active. Risky? Maybe, but it’s also encouraging. Volcanoes are not only the origin of natural disasters, they have a potential for generating geothermal energy that in our country can represent between 3,500 and 16,000 MW.
In addition, the volcanoes are responsible for Chile having copper and gold deposits, fertile land, hot springs and a curious geography.
To keep up with the activity of these craters that mark our landscape, the Center of Excellence in Geothermal Energy of the Andes, prepared a graphic tour of the most important volcanic events of recent times and those to come.
