Alfredo Lahsen is elected as a board member of the IGA

The Professor from the Geology Department at the Universidad de Chile and CEGA Researcher Alfredo Lahsen was chosen as part of the Board of the International Geothermal Association (IGA), an organization with over 5000 members in 65 countries that promotes research, development and utilization of geothermal resources through the publication of scientific and technical information between the network of specialists in geothermal, industrial community, government, civil society and the general public.

The IGA Directory is composed by 30 members, who remain in office for three years. Alfredo Lahsen represents the only South American member for this period, and this is the third time in his career he has been nominated by their peers to hold this position. “The idea of this new phase, as to our area concerns, is that we can encourage the training of regional capacity, generating courses and programs for the training of specialists, especially in the Andean countries”, said renowned academic international experience in the geothermal area. The new directory will meet for the first time on 15 and 16 November at the headquarters of the IGA in Bochum, Germany.
