Monday, 22 de October

  • Lectures that combine films, series, innovation and geology, an interactive stand with a functional replica of a geothermal plant and augmented reality, as well as a communication workshop for girls and boys in sciences were the main activities that involved researchers, students and CEGA’s staff during the celebrations of our national scientific culture 2018.

October is known as the science month because various national agencies involved in the production and dissemination of Chilean science coordinate to deliver a program of activities dedicated to the promotion of scientific culture towards the non-experts: students, families and science fans have a varied billboard of activities to enjoy. In this context, CEGA participated in the Science and Engineering Festival of the University of Chile during October 18, 19 and 20, with the talks “Geothermics, the hottest energy”, “The geology of Games of Thrones” and ” Damn fiction: geology in the cinema “, which in addition to filling the auditoriums with curious attendees, added about 6 thousand visitors online through our Facebook fan page.

Along with this, a team of 15 professors, researchers and pre and postgraduate students of our Center shared with the community through an interactive stand that promoted geothermal among schoolchildren, teachers and parents during the festival that brought together more than 16 thousand people. Finally, CEGA’s Outreach Unit gave a communications workshop for girls and boys who participated in the XIII Regional School Congress, with the aim of providing them with tools that would facilitate the exposure of their research projects to the committee of evaluators.
