CEGA reviews changes to the Geothermal Concession Law with the Chamber of Deputies commission

During November 20th, the Energy and Mining Commission of the House of Deputies invited CEGA’s director , Dr. Diego Morata, who presented expert observations regarding the project of improvement of the  “Law No. 19,657 on energy concessions geothermal for the development of projects of shallow use of geothermal energy”.

Morata focused his presentation on five issues that should be reviewed in the legal modification being processed by the specialized commission chaired by Deputy Daniella Cicardini (PS), these are: definition of key concepts, change the project name , differentiation between commercial and domestic use, establishment of new temperature and depth parameters to exempt from concessions the direct use of geothermal energy, and clarity regarding authorities in charge of registration and control.
