INTERACTIVE VOLCANOES AND MINERALS GALLERY TO RENEW LOCAL SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY MUSEUMFriday, 06 de October
The Millennium Nucleus for Metals Tracing (MNMT) along with the Andean Geothermal Centre of Excellence launched a renovation of the Geology Room of the Science and Technology Museum located at the Quinta Normal Park in Santiago.
The new materials, which include an interactive display on volcanoes and a showcase of minerals, were developed with funds from the Outreach Program of the Millennium Scientific Initiative of the Ministry of Economy. Postgraduate students participated together with researchers and communicators for the creation of the new displays.
“The process of renovation and enrichment of the Geology Room has been very rewarding and will allow us to show what geology is. Outreach is an important part of our work, especially focused on mineral resources in Chile, an area of geology that is more unfamiliar than volcanoes and earthquakes, but that deliver a lot of wealth to our country”, said Martin Reich, head of the MNMT during the opening ceremony.
