Professor Alfredo Lahsen is internationally recognized for pioneering geothermal energy studies
Monday, 26 de SeptemberProfessor Alfredo Lahsen, CEGA researcher and academic at the Geology Department of Universidad de Chile, will receive the Pioneer Award from the Geothermal Resources Council.
The Geothermal Resources Council, an organization that promotes research and development of geothermal resources worldwide, will award Professor Lahsen the Pioneer Geothermal award by virtue of being a pioneer in the research of geothermal energy in Chile, owing to his over 40 years of experience in research, training specialists and promoting the advancement of renewable energy in Chile. He will receive the recognition at the 39th Annual Geothermal Meeting to be held on September 2015 in Reno (United States). Lahsen was the first geologist in Chile to preliminary assess Chile’s geothermal resources, which resulted in a potential of 16,000 MW that can be used for power generation. In 2011 Professor Lahsen had also been nominated for the Geothermal Pioneer Award, but it will be finally be awarded this year, crowning his career as a professor of the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences.
