[:es]Los investigadores del Centro de Excelencia en Geotermia de Los Andes (CEGA), Gloria Arancibia (PUC) y Daniele Tardani (UACh) se adjudicaron financiamientos del Concurso Fondecyt 2022, de la Agencia Nacional de Investigación y Desarrollo (ANID), para realizar sus investigaciones en el área de Ciencias de la Tierra.
Gloria Arancibia, doctora en Ciencias con mención en Geología y académica del Departamento de Ingeniería Estructural y Geotécnica de la Pontificia Universidad Católica, obtuvo financiamiento a través del Concurso Nacional de Proyectos Fondecyt Regular. En tanto, Daniele Tardani, doctor en Ciencias con mención en Geología y académico del Instituto de Ciencias de la Tierra de la Universidad Austral, lo consiguió mediante el Concurso Fondecyt de Iniciación en Investigación.
El proyecto de la investigadora Arancibia estará enfocado en dar a conocer de mejor manera la circulación de fluidos (magma, fluidos hidrotermales, aguas geotermales y agua meteórica) en la corteza terrestre fracturada por grandes fallas geológicas activas en el centro-sur de Chile.
“Mejorar este conocimiento científico nos ayuda a determinar la localización, la geometría y el volumen del cuerpo rocoso fracturado que contiene el recurso geotermal”, destacó la investigadora CEGA.
Por su parte, el proyecto de Tardani, llamado “Structural control on residence times and metal sources in geothermal waters from Southern Andes: implications for geothermal systems and epithermal deposits formation”, continuará sus estudios de doctorado. “Es un tema que hemos trabajado en los últimos diez años junto con otros investigadores del CEGA y tiene relación con la interacción entre las estructuras de fallas presentes en Los Andes del sur y la circulación de fluidos hidrotermales”, explicó.
El colaborador del CEGA, Francisco Delgado (UChile), y el ex investigador postdoctoral del centro, Jaime Araya (UAtacama), también fueron elegidos en el Concurso Fondecyt de Iniciación.[:en]Gloria Arancibia (PUC) and Daniele Tardani (UACH), both members of the Center of Excellence in Geothermal of Los Andes, awarded financials from the Fondecyt 2022 Contest, from the National Research and Development Agency (ANID in spanish), to carry on wiith their research in the area of Earth Sciences.
Arancibia’s project will be focused in a better understanding of the circulation of fluids (magma, hydrothermal fluids, geothermal waters and meteoric water) in the earth’s crust, which is fractured by a large active geological fault line in central-southern Chile.
For its part, Tardani’s project, called “Structural control on residence times and metal sources in geothermal waters from Southern Andes: implications for geothermal systems and epithermal deposits formation”, will help him to continue his PHD studies.
As per his own words: “It is a topic that we have worked on in the last ten years, in partnership with other CEGA researchers and it is related to the interaction between the fault line structures present in the southern Andes and the circulation of hydrothermal fluids”, he concluded.
